Selkie feel very strongly that the same high quality teaching that parents expect from their paid after school lessons should be possible during school swimming lessons. For some children these school lessons will be their first (and potentially only) experience of swimming lessons so it’s a unique opportunity for us to teach water safety and ‘inspire a love of swimming’.
Our school Swimming Instructors are fully qualified, have an enhanced DBS check and hold a relevant Rescue Award . In addition they are passionate about ensuring all children enjoy their swimming experience with us and get the best opportunity to make progress. All our schools participate in the annual ‘RLSS Drowning Prevention Week’ – this is a pyjama session which involves learning about water safety, practising water survival skills and safe rescues. We also organise and host the ‘North Harringay versus South Harringay’ Schools Swimming Championships for pupils in year 5 and year 6 which is a highlight for us and enormous fun for all involved.
We are proud to teach the following schools :- St Anns CE School, St Marys Priory RC School, North Harringay Primary School, South Harrigay Schools, St Johns Vianney School and Tiverton School.
We welcome enquiries from other schools interested in joining our School Swimming Program.
